Les Aventures de Coco et Piaf — Interactive VR Learning Experience

Les Aventures de Coco et Piaf is an interactive educational VR experience created for children between the ages of three and eight. The project was developed for VWX Agency, with the Alliance Française de Buenos Aires as the end client, and is based on the illustrated universe of Coco and Piaf, created by a French artist.

I was responsible for the complete development of the interactive experience, including adaptation of the original visual concept into 3D, environment design, modeling, texturing, lighting, animation integration, educational interaction design, gameplay programming, validation systems, audio implementation, optimization, testing, and final deployment using Unity and OpenXR.

The original characters and visual references were provided in 2D by their creator. My role was to translate that established identity into a cohesive real-time 3D world while preserving the expressive, hand-crafted quality of the illustrations.

The adventure begins with a large interactive book titled Les Aventures de Coco et Piaf. As the book opens, a three-dimensional map of France appears across its pages, allowing children to select different destinations and begin a series of educational activities set in recognizable French regions.

Paris — Bakery and Counting

In the Paris bakery, children learn to count from one to five while interacting with baguettes, croissants, trays, and bakery shelves.

The player must identify, count, and place the correct number of products in their corresponding locations. Custom socket and validation systems provide immediate visual feedback, indicating whether each item has been placed correctly or incorrectly.

Brittany — Seasons and Travel Preparation

In a coastal apartment in Brittany, children experience the four seasons through dynamic changes in weather and atmosphere.

Snow, rain, sunlight, and environmental variations transform the scene while Coco and Piaf guide the player through a packing activity. Children must identify which clothes and objects belong to each season and place the appropriate items inside a suitcase.

This section combines object recognition, seasonal vocabulary, environmental transitions, and interactive selection.

Strasbourg — Food and Restaurant Vocabulary

The Strasbourg restaurant introduces children to the names of different foods through an interactive dining scene with Coco and Piaf.

Objects, dishes, character reactions, voice lines, and visual cues work together to reinforce vocabulary through observation and playful interaction.

Giverny — Colors and Painting

The Giverny art gallery is inspired by the region’s artistic and Impressionist heritage.

Children learn colors while using a virtual brush to paint freely on a canvas. The scene includes an interactive easel, painting tools, color selection, artwork references, and a creative activity that allows each user to produce their own image inside the virtual environment.

Provence — Animals and Exploration

In the Provence farm, children explore a colorful rural environment filled with fields, barns, lavender, and interactive animals.

The objective is to find animals hidden throughout the scene and identify them with the help of Coco and Piaf. This activity encourages observation, exploration, and vocabulary learning through spatial discovery.

Across all five environments, the educational content is supported by music, character animation, spoken phrases, visual feedback, and age-appropriate interaction design. The experience was designed to remain accessible, highly visual, and easy to understand for young children.

The entire application was developed in Unity using OpenXR,
